Powerful magnets keep the cover in place, however it will not keep the beads on the board if you need to travel with it. (These magnets also create a powerful magnetic field to stop static electricity from making the beads cling to it.) The board is 11 inches by 8 inches. The width is just under 3/8 of an inch.
