THE KNITTER’S BLOCK STORY

First-time blockers are always amazed by the difference blocking makes to the final appearance of their knitting. After blocking, sweater parts lay flat, stitches even out, and what looked like a wild mess now behaves nicely. It’s like magic!

After 20 years of teaching knitting, I’ve never grown tired of instructing my students on finishing techniques. In fact, the technique of blocking is one of my favorite things to demonstrate.

I used to demonstrate blocking with pieces of carpet, but carpet scorched easily and was too thin for blocking pins to sink into. Rugs, towels and bulky blocking boards weren’t much better. Many of my students didn’t bother to block because it was such a cumbersome task.

With this in mind, I set out to improve on the carpet pieces. I eventually had special tiles custom made for blocking, and the end result is my Knitter’s Block kit.

Little round metal tin containing roughly 100 triangular headed size 1 (1/8) pins.

Their diameter is 0.80 mm with a length of 30 mm.

Highly recommended for machine quilting and traditional sewing and for blocking knitting projects.

The box is covered with a round label representing a tightrope walker. Another label on the back indicates the contents.

Dimensions of the box: diameter 4.7 cm - thickness: 1.8 cm.

It opens by a small key on the side, just like a tin of shoe polish.

How to use:

Brush surface with short, gentle strokes to bring up the nap and refresh fibers such as mohair or brushed alpaca. Use longer strokes to brush fibers off of clothing and furniture.

The Lazadas blocking wires set is used for shaping and setting knitting or crocheted projects after they are made. By blocking your finished garments you will put a professional finishing touch, it will help to smooth and uncurl edges, open lace works and shape the pieces to the exact measures you want.

These wires are super elastic, can be bent, but have the ability to snap back to a straight wire.

They are the most versatile blocking wires, they work great for straight edge, circular, half moon and even scalloped shapes. Because of the medium diameter, you can use it for blocking fine lace to chunky yarn projects.

They won’t rust on your garment and they are hard enough for long durability.

It subtantially reduces the number of pins that a user needs to use to block a project. Plus it allows the user to apply a more consistent tension while blocking a wide area. It saves time and provides a better, more consistent solution than using pins alone.

Knit Blockers™ also have the ability to serve as an anchor for attaching string to run within the stitch ends along the perimeter of the project. You may also use Knit Blockers with blocking wires. These neat Knit Blockers do so many different tasks and we are sure that knitters will discover many more methods for using them.

We have added holes on both ends of each Knit Blocker which can serve as an anchor point when the user attaches string to these holes. Strings of various lengths can be used

A Knit Blocker set consists of 20 units in a nice plastic storage case: twelve 8 pin Blockers and eight 4 pin blockers. Some projects may require more Blockers but the user can use string to extend the length or use individual pins in conjunction with the Knit Blockers. Of course, a knitter can buy a second set of blockers as well.

Plastic Yarn Needles – Pack of 3

The big needle eye makes it really easy for threading the yarn and the rounded tip keeps the yarn from splitting, making these ideal for joining or closing stitches.

3 needles per pack; 1 small, 1 medium and 1 large.

A pack of 6 assorted sizes in No. 5/0 - 1/0. Extra long with big eyes and ballpoint ends for easy darning and visible mending.

A range of darning needles made of hardened steel with a golden eye, offers short needles for the darning of wool garments and socks, as well as long needles for jobs where you need a longer running stitch. The needles have the typical tapered shape of a hand sewing needle, but are a lot bigger in size and therefore have a proportionately adjusted larger eye. This also allows the threading of sturdier yarns and wool. The surface of the darning needles is burr free and rust resistant. It ensures that the needle can be easily slipped through the material.

The quick clear gauge is a square ruler that measures the number of stitches.
