What is a Yarn Buddy? The yarn buddy is often called by different names. Yarn Holder Yarn Caddy Lazy Docks Yarn Spinner Yarn Top Yarn Swirlette Yarn Holder Lazy Susan Yarn Spindle Well, you can think of it as a "Lazy Susan" for your yarn. The double yarn buddy consists of two circular wooden discs connected with a ball bearing lazy susans and spindles to hold the yarn. The ball bearing lazy susans allows the top discs of the yarn buddy to spin freely as it feeds out the yarn. The base sits on the work surface and is held in place with grip pads. The grip pads keep the yarn buddy from slipping around and will not scratch or mar the work surface. The lazy susans ball bearings are recessed into the discs. Recessing the bearing reduces the gap between the top and bottom disc, making it unlikely that the yarn can get caught. You wind your skeins of yarn into a ball and then place the yarn cake onto the wooden spindle. As you crochet, knit, weave,etc. you pull yarn from the outside of the yarn ball. The yarn spins effortlessly as you knit or crochet. The spindle holds the yarn in place. Yarn can be easily added or removed from the spindle. The yarn buddy is completely portable. Each Yarn Buddy is handcrafted, finely sanded, then finished for beauty and durability. The yarn buddy is then sealed with a finishing wax and buffed to a high luster. The dimensions of a the Yarn Buddy are approximately 4.5 inches by 10 3/4 inches I use only local and exotic hardwoods that are sustainably harvested The yarn buddy can be made in various woods (purple heart, bloodwood, padauk, white oak, etc.).
