Nearly black when I bought them 25 years ago, a couple of hours in my vibratory polisher and brought back their golden glow.
I love these heavy, soft, smooth brass beads that give an an ancient look to anything I make with them.

The Gonds are an indigenous tribal people of central India
I bought a sack full of this amazing antique brass jewelry at a market in Delhi in 1986. It was quite rare the time, bring sold by the gram like silver and I haven't seen any since, nor been able to find information about it. I expect this type of jewelry went out of fashion with the Gonds at least 50 years ago, and now just as with clothing, they favor more mainstream styles of jewelry popular in the areas where they live.
