Our new zip service replaces existing zips or zippers in any item of clothing: jeans, trousers, shorts, jackets, dresses, gilets, hoodies, coats, cardigans, puffer or down jackets, jumpsuits and overalls, waterproof jackets, tracksuit tops, leather jackets, suede jackets, even onesies!
Have you got a broken zip or is your zipper stuck? Zips often stick or break. Sometimes, there's just no way to get it working again. The zipper may come off the runners or the runners may pull away from the fabric either side. There may be teeth missing from the zip runners. We can mend zips in some cases, which is quicker and cheaper than replacing the whole zip. If we manage to mend the zip, we’ll refund you part of the cost. However, sometimes the only solution is to fit a new zip so you can get back to wearing your clothes. Our new zip service replaces existing zips in any item of clothing: jeans zips, trouser zips, shorts zips, jacket zips, dress zips, gilet zips, hoodie zips, coat zips, cardigan zips, puffer or down jacket zips, jumpsuit zips and overall zips, waterproof jacket zips, tracksuit top zips, leather jacket zips, suede jacket zips, even onesie zips! What's included in a new zip service We carefully unpicking both sides of an existing zip or zippers to remove it (or occasionally cut it out neatly if this will give a better finish), choose a new zip or zipper - ordering one in if necessary - and neatly sew in the new zip so you will hopefully have many years' more wear from your garment. We can replace the main zip or zipper on a garment, zip flies in jeans, trousers, shorts or skirts, zips in the side of clothes and pocket zips too. We can also replace or fit double-ended zips or zippers and taped or waterproof zips. If you have specific requirements for the type of zip you require, please enter them in the order notes and we'll contact you if there's an additional cost. We'll always try to match the original zip colour and zipper type. Occasionally, we may advise you to have a more heavy-weight zipper fitted if the original zip isn't suitable for the garment or fabric. Please select the length of zip you require. What kind of zips and zippers we can fit We can fit heavy duty metal zips and plastic zips, nylon zips, hidden zips, pocket zips. Which clothes we can fit zips in We can fit replacement zips in jeans, trousers, shorts, jackets, dresses, gilets, hoodies, coats, cardigans, puffer or down jackets, jumpers, cardigans, tracksuit tops, jumpsuits, waterproof clothes. We can fit leather jacket zips, raincoat zips, zips in woollens, zips in down jackets or puffer jackets. How long does our new zip service take? It takes 10 days - 2 weeks from the moment you send off your item for repair until you receive back the mended garment. If you need a quicker turnaround, please select express postage or contact us so we can confirm our current workload. Cost for new zip service Our new zip repair service costs £27.50 per zip, plus postage and packing. Zips longer than 55cm cost £32.50 and pocket zips cost £25 for one or two zips. You may also want to add additional postage insurance in case of problems with our delivery providers. Other things to know about our new zip service We always try to mend a zip, rather than repair it, as this tends to give a neater finish and reduces waste. However, this isn't always possible, for example if teeth in the runner are missing or if the original zip isn't strong enough for the garment. Our seamstresses will check whether zip repair is appropriate for your garment and we'll be in touch if we need to recommend repairing instead of replacing the zip. What we don't do Sadly, we can't currently replace zips on bags or boots. We hope to be able to do so in the future so please let us know if this is something you want and we'll let you know as soon as we can.
