DB-K5SS Wedge Point Embroidery Needles for embroidery on leather and vinyl

This is a large eye round shank commercial needle with a wedge point (leather point).

This needle has the eye features of the DBxK5, but the point has a very narrow wedge to make penetration through leather, vinyl and similar non-woven materials easier and neater. A standard set or sharp point needle punches it way through leather like materials which may result in undesirably shaped holes. The very narrow wedge point slices through the leather like materials, while making a cleanly cut needle hole.

Other available wedge point needles typically have longer wedges than the DBxK5SS needles. That is fine for most sewing operations, but with embroidery, the stitches are very close together. The longer wedge point needles will actually punch out the design, created by the close pattern of embroidered stitches. The extra narrow wedge point of the DKxK5SS leaves enough distance between stitches and embroidered patterns to maintain the strength of the leather like material and avoids punching out the embroidered design. Often times designs need to be enlarged or specially digitized to avoid cutting out these non-woven material completely.
