Q&A Question One: Does the reverse side show through? Answer: No it does not. Inches are on one side and centimeters on the other. The tape itself is quite thick and sturdy. Works great!!!! Question Two: Does this contain lead or other prop 65 chemicals like cheaper tailor tapes? Answer: No, this does not contain lead or other “prop 65” banned products. All manufacturers have to now disclose such items if your state requires it (such as California and a few others). However, that disclosure only has to be in the packaging and not the advertisement. There was no such indicator in my packaging.  Question Three: Is the case metal or plastic? The description says metal. Answer: It is plastic  Customer Review  My wife and I got this little tape measure to measure our bodies before we started to diet. At first I was mad because I thought the numbers were off..or maybe it was the metric system. Either way, I realized I'm very fat. Hoping the tape measure dies a better job after the holidays and gives me better numbers!  I broke the one that I have that was given as a gift by my fabric supplier so I had to buy a new one. This looks durable for the price and very easy to use. I like that there is no button on the outside to press to reel the tape in. You just have to press the center to reel in the tape. And it is padded and soft to press which is a nice feature. The old one I have has the button and it sometime get stuck and won't do it's job. I had to press it several times to work which is an annoyance.I just got mine today, so obviously I won't find how it will hold up after uses so will update later. Right now, I like what I got.Update: It still works like the day I purchased it. I’m purchasing another one in a different color just because.
