Armed Forces Reserve Medal Ribbon - Navy Criteria: The Armed Forces Reserve Medal (AFRM) is granted to personnel who have completed 10 years of service as a member of a Reserve or National Guard component of the U.S. military. The service can be cumulative, given that the 10 years accumulate and are served over a period of 12 consecutive years. Voluntary recalls to active duty are not counted within the 10 years of service nor is service within the inactive reserves.
